Unless you're Meghan Markle, that is. The Duchess flew to New York City last month for a lavish shower thrown at high-end Upper East Side hotel The Mark. There she caught up with friends including Serena Williams, Amal Clooney and Abigail Spencer. Her pals were reportedly treated to a Michelin-star meal, enjoyed a flower-arranging class and, of course, gave Meghan plenty of baby-related gifts. Paparazzi photos show guests arriving at the hotel with bags and boxes but it was revealed afterwards that Meg didn't open her presents at the party, as a mum-to-be traditionally would. US broadcaster Gayle King was there and said afterwards that the royal wanted to wait for her hubby. "She didn’t open any of the gifts because she wants to do that when she and Harry are back together," she told CBS This Morning last month. Turns out that that might not have been the reason, though. An insider told UsWeekly that Meghan held off because the gifts would have revealed whether she was having a boy or a girl. “The reason they didn’t open gifts at the shower wasn’t because Meghan wanted to open the gifts with Harry,” the source explains, “but because they would have revealed the baby’s gender." We're not sure if we believe this, though. Meghan and Harry have said that they're keeping the gender a surprise, plus it seems unlikely that she'd have told some of the guests but not the others. Still, we doubt we have long to go to find out - Meghan is reportedly due in the next month.
