Anne Hathaway shares disappointing news about The Princess Diaries 3

It looks like we'll be waiting quite some time for The Princess Diaries 3.

The Princess Diaries is the perfect movie. Sure it isn't an Oscar-winning masterpiece but it has everything a girl could possibly want from an early 00s Disney film. It has Anne Hathaway, Julie Andrews, a likable royal family (a welcome change), a charming love interest, a beloved protagonist, and a soundtrack full of pop songs. Fans of the Disney classic were over the moon to hear a third movie was in the works, but it looks like we'll be waiting quite some time for The Princess Diaries 3 to be released. Anne Hathaway spoke out about the third installment, but she didn't have the best news to share. The One Day actress said she appreciates how enthusiastic fans are but, creating another movie is a slow process. She told People, "We feel the exact same, and I know it’s probably very frustrating. "It’s a process that requires patience, and so everybody should consider themselves a part of the movie business now because this is how long it actually takes to make things.” Disney has confirmed The Princess Diaries 3 but the Modern Love star hasn't officially signed up for it just yet. As excited as she is about the film, Hathaway said she hopes Julie Andrews will be involved. She told Entertainment Tonight, "If there’s any way to get Julie Andrews involved, I think we would make it work. We would go to where she was and put a green screen behind her and just make it happen.” The Princess Diaries aired in 2001. The movie is based on the book series by Meg Cabot.
