One Direction fans have expressed outrage at the release of a video this morning which appears to show Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik smoking a joint in Peru.
The footage showed the pair laughing as they pass through the country in a car, with Louis announcing “so here we are, leaving Peru. Joint lit. Happy days!”.
The video, published by MailOnline, has provoked a hostile reaction from many followers of the band, with some posting photos to Twitter showing them tearing and burning tickets to upcoming concerts.
Just ripped up my One Direction tickets because Zayn and Louis smoke weed. I hate this band so much. pic.twitter.com/OPcEXq9Lxa

Drug charities have also appealed to the band, who have maintained a squeaky-clean image until now, to be a “good role model” to fans but many Directions vowed to remain loyal to their heroes.
A spokesperson for the boyband, which includes Mullingar man Niall Horan, responded to the release of the video by saying “The matter is now in the hands of our lawyers”.
