Earlier today, our very own Derek Mooney openly spoke about the fact that he is gay and now, the pop star Mika has finally confirmed that yes, he too is gay.
The Daily Mail reports that the singer has always been pretty coy when it came to confirming or denying any reports about his sexual orientation over the years, but now he has spoken out and confirmed that yes, he is a homosexual.
And to be honest? We think it’s great that both Mika and Derek are finally speaking out and showing the world that they’re comfortable in their own skin. Fair play boys!
Anyway, there have been rumours surrounding Mika’s sexuality ever since he first broke onto the music scene back in 2007.
However, the 28-year-old has come out of the closet in the latest issue of Instinct magazine and finally confirmed that yes the rumours are true and that tracks on his new album are all about his relationship with a man.
“If you ask me am I gay, I say yeah. Are these songs about my relationship with a man? I say yeah,” said Mika, speaking to Instinct.
“And it’s only through my music that I’ve found the strength to come to terms with my sexuality beyond the context of just my lyrics. This is my real life,” he added.
This is the first time that Mika has openly addressed the rumours and admitted that he is gay.
For years there have been rumours about Mika’s sexuality.
Three years ago, the singer claimed that he hates putting a label on himself, but said that he was bisexual rather than gay.
“I’ve never ever labelled myself. But having said that, I’ve never limited my life. I’ve never limited who I sleep with…call me whatever you want. Call me bisexual, if you need a term for me,” said Mika at the time.
Gay? Bisexual? Does it really matter? Either way we’re just happy to see that Mika is comfortable with himself and doesn’t care about what anyone else thinks.
