Over the past few days, more and more details are coming to light with regards to Alex Reid’s arrest and just what exactly happened at the home he shared with Chantelle Houghton in Essex.
Last week, the police were called to the couples’ home in the early hours of the morning after neighbours reported some disturbance. Alex was reportedly screaming to be let in, and the cage fighter was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and using violence to gain entry to the premises.
Unsurprisingly, shortly after the incident, Alex’s fiancée Chantelle took to Twitter and officially announced that she had “no option but to end” her relationship with Alex.
Alex released a statement saying that he was “deeply ashamed” of how he’s behaved over the past few months, and now, a friend of the couple’s has revealed just how frightened Chantelle was.
“He was sending threatening texts to Chantelle prior to arriving at the house,” said a source, speaking to Now magazine.
“She got texts saying he was going to smash the windows in. The next thing she knew, Alex was trying to kick the door in. She was terrified. He was in a rage and she feared for her safety,” the source added.
Alex and Chantelle have parted ways since the incident at their home last week.
According to reports, neighbours got worried and contact the police after they heard Alex screaming: “Let me in! F**king let me in!” in the early hours of the morning.
The couple made no secret of the fact that their relationship had been under intense strain since the birth of their 12-week old daughter.
We wonder if they’ll try to reconcile their differences? Either way we hope they can remain civil for the sake of their child.
