Adele speaks about moving forward in emotional post to mark her 31st birthday

"This is 31..."

What a woman. Breakups are hard, divorces are even harder. Last week, award-winning singer, Adele, shared the news that she has split from her husband of three years in an official statement. Released by her representatives, the statement reads:

"Adele and her partner have separated. They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment".

And obviously, as it's a difficult time for the star, Adele hasn't spoken about the split besides posting a witty meme about having a breakdown and now, almost a week later, a birthday post revealing how much the last year has tested her and how she's ready to spend her 31st year focused on herself.

"I’ve changed drastically in the last couple years and I’m still changing and that’s okay. 31 is going to be a big ol’ year and I’m going to spend it all on myself. For the first time in a decade I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once."

Although her relationship with her husband was extremely private, it's thought that Adele and Simon were dating for five years before getting married in 2016.
