Adele said she cannot understand how people feel the need to sex up their music videos to sell records.
The 24-year-old said rival singers who strip to their smalls and stimulate romps on screen are presenting a false image to young fans.
She spoke as Gaga posted photos of herself in revealing underwear online, to hit back at digs about her weight.
Gaga posed for half-naked photos and posted them online.
“I’ve seen them up close and they don’t even look like that,” the star said bluntly.
“Exploiting yourself sexually is not a good look. I don’t find it encouraging.
I have never seen magazine covers and music videos and thought: ‘I need to look like that to be a success.”
The pregnant British singer also insisted that, even if she looked like a supermodel, her clothes would stay on.
She said; “To sell more records I don’t even need to do that. I just stand there and sing. I’m not worried that I’m a ‘plus size’ and so much bigger than other artists.
“No matter what you look like, the key is to be happy with yourself.”
