Celebrity relationships – the vast majority of them are over after a few weeks, tops. But there are some celebrity couples who we always just assumed would stand the test of time.
And they were going well, until someone did something that they really shouldn’t have done. Namely they engaged in some extra-marital activities. Uh-oh…
Yes, these former, squeaky-clean male celebrities always had a touch of Prince Charming off them. We thought that they were devoted husbands and fathers. Imagine our shock when the following stories broke and their Prince Charming image was completely obliterated.
Here are the celebrity men we thought were Mr Right, but they were really Mr Wrong…
5. Ryan Giggs: In terms of footballers, Ryan Giggs was always considered to be one of the good guys. In fact, he was so well-behaved that he very rarely crossed our radar…until last year that is.
Last year, the media inferred that glamour model Imogen Thomas had been sleeping with the footballer. A glamour model and a footballer? It’s a familiar story, isn’t it? But this story got even more shocking when it was revealed that the footballer had also been involved in an intense eight-year affair with his brother’s wife (of all people!).
Yes, Natasha Giggs (the wife of Ryan’s brother Rhodri) went to the papers and sold her story. Ryan Giggs’ wholesome image was effectively ruined and his relationships with his own wife and his brother were destroyed.
4. Jude Law: Jude Law used to be the poster boy when it came to clean-cut actors, but all that changed in 2005 when it was revealed that he had been cheating on Sienna Miller with Daisy Wright, the couple’s nanny.
Wright sold her story to UK paper The Sunday Mirror and described (in explicit detail) all her liaisons with Jude Law. Needless to say, Sienna parted ways with the actor and Jude Law lost some of his appeal.
The couple briefly reunited back in 2010, but it was all over again within a matter of weeks.
3. Arnold Schwarzenegger: The entire world emitted a collective “WTF?!” last year when Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted that he had cheated on his wife Maria Shriver ten years ago and had fathered a child as a result.
The worst thing about this story? Arnie carried out the affair with the family’s housekeeper who had been working for the Schwarzeneggers for the past twenty years. Yes, Arnie’s love child was probably a regular visitor to the family home over the past ten years only no one knew about it.
While the couple have yet to formally divorce, it is expected that the filing of papers could happen any day now.
2. Tiger Woods: Tiger Woods always portrayed the image of a happily married family man. This image was destroyed back in 2009 when it was revealed that he was a serial cheater.
The story began when US tabloid-style magazine The National Enquirer published a story stating that Woods was having an affair with a woman named Rachel Uchitel.
A few days later, paramedics attended Woods’ home after they received a 911 call. According to news websites, Elin had been attacking Tiger’s car with a golf club as he attempted to escape from the family home after admitting his that he had an affair with Uchitel.
Over the next few weeks countless women come forward claiming that they have slept with Tiger and he is forced to admit to everything and make a very public apology.
1. Mark Owen: Whatever about Jude Law, Arnie and Tiger – nothing could have prepared us for the revelation that Mark Owens had a slept with a string of women outside of his marriage to his wife Emma.
In 2010, the singer confessed to having at least ten affairs during his marriage. Given the fact that Mark Owen was always the squeaky-clean member of Take That, a lot of people were shocked by the news.
Mark blamed a long battle with alcohol for his repeated infidelity and said that he simply could not help himself when he was drunk.
Luckily for Mark, wife Emma decided to forgive him and allow him one more chance, providing he checked himself into rehab.
