Putting on your make-up is probably part of your daily routine and you probably don’t think twice about it.
However, this daily task had scary repercussions for Kasey Ault when she happened to leave her make-up mirror out on her desk.
The Californian native, who is a self-confessed beauty buff, came home from work last week to find that her iPad case which had been sitting on her desk was burnt to a crisp.
Kasey couldn’t understand what had happened for a minute until she realised that she had left her compact make-up mirror on the desk and it had been exposed to sunlight.

She spoke to Seventeen to explain how terrifying it was to come home and see how much damage there could have been had the fire spread: “Although that mirror had been there for weeks, my guess is that the sun hit it just right on its magnified side and somehow ignited some objects on my desk.
“It was probably the scariest thing I’ve ever had happen to me”.

“Just had something very scary happen to me. If any of you do your makeup in a little mirror in front of the window like I do, stash it away when you’re done.
I just came home to a house full of smoke and found clear evidence of a fire on my desk. I believe it was started by the reflection of light off the magnified side.
I’m extremely lucky the fire didn’t reach the battery of my iPad, my wooden desk, my laundry basket next to my desk.. It miraculously was somehow contained.
I had my sweet chihuahua asleep in that room, along with my other 3 dogs and 5 cats in the house. I could have lost them all. Please be careful”.
