Mulled wine hair: The winter trend that’s just as tasty as the drink

Rebecca O'Keeffe

Any hairdressers around, or?

The newest trend on the hair colour scene is mulled wine hair, and it is perfectly delightful.

According to beauty gurus Allure, mulled wine hair is “richer, yet more subdued than last fall’s hyper-red colour.”

“The update for right now has shifted towards plum. It’s closer to what a glass of wine actually looks like.”

And needless to say we are THIRSTY for it!

Anyway, lets get to the good stuff… the pictures of this amazing colour trend. Mulled wine hair everyone… you’re going to want it immediately!

Wine hair? ? That’s exactly what pops into my head when I look at this color, what about you guys? Do y’all like wine hair? ? I’m digging it ?? I utilized our #mydentity permanent shades 5MR, 6MR, 5NI, and 3MV here. Scroll to see her before photo ???? She came in with a natural level 5 base with a little hint of color left on her ends wanting something fun and different but nothing too bright. I started by mixing 5MR + 5NI in my bowl and applied that at the base (first two inches) of her hair with 10vol. Then mixed up 5MR + 5NI but added just a little bit of 3MV to give it that deeper/cooler wine tone, mixing that formula with 20vol. for maximum lift + deposit. Leaving out her ends I then mixed 6MR + 3MV and applied that to rest of her hair and processed for a full 35 minutes, of course using @olaplex every step of the way. This is our final end result, what do y’all think? ?

WINE ? What shall we name this one? ? Picking my favorite comment in an hour. So this one was a pretty big process, we actually had to break it into 2 sessions. Scroll to see her before photo ???? Session 1️⃣ So when my client came in she had this faded out red tone in her hair and wanted to go red again but brighter. I started by color extracting out all of her previous color until she reached a level 8. I then overlayed @guytang_mydentity superpower Crimson Spell at the shampoo bowl adding @olaplex to the color. I let her sit for 20 minutes before rinsing in cold water. We gave her a haircut, fully blow dried, and that was the end of the first session. Session 2️⃣ This time when she came back we decided to give her a shadow root to give her hair more depth. I applied #mydentity 5NI demi at her base then color melted it down into 6RR demi on the ends. I let her process for 25 minutes before rinsing then I overlayed with Crimson Spell and @olaplex again at the shampoo bowl. I let her sit for a few minutes then washed, blowdried, and styled. This is our final result. What do you think?

You’re welcome.

Now we just need a stylist available to give it to us.
