Need some festival inspo?
Summers here, which means festival season. And festival season means turning a look, something we’re always here for.
In case you missed it, ’90s trends are back in a big way. From frosted eyeshadow to thin eyebrows to heartthrob bobs, it’s truly the era that keeps on giving.
And when it comes to retro hairstyles, the decade has a lot to offer. Here’s our top picks.
Criss Cross ponies
This look has been blowing up on TikTok recently and it’s giving serious Spice Girls vibes. Plus, it really is as easy to do as it looks. Split your hair into a middle parting, creating two little sections at the front on either side . Pull them back and cross them over, securing in place with small elastics, for some instant volume.
Space buns
For this cute-yet-edgy look, part your hair in the middle and pull into high pigtails, leaving some strands out at front if you like. Then, twist the pigtails and coil into a bun on either side, securing in place with another hair tie.

Mini front braids
A gorgeous boho look that screams festival vibes. Simply take two small front sections, braid them down the sides and secure with small elastics. Easy! This look has been a fave among A-list celebs recently – like Hailey Bieber, Gigi Hadid and Margot Robbie, to name a few.

Coloured slides
Snap clips are back in a big way, and not only do they look cute, but they are seriously handy for those of us growing out bangs too. It’s literally an effortless way to rock a retro vibe.
Bubble pigtails
If you’re after maximal results with minimal effort, look no further. All you really need is small clear elastics for this look. Just tie your hair in pigtails as you normally would. Next, tie a few elastics down the length of the pigtails, roughly an inch apart, to create small round sections that look like bubbles.

Classy flipped out ends
Ah, the ultimate preppy girl style of the ’90s. Split hair into sections and wrap the ends of each section around a brush, placing a blowdryer underneath and twisting the brush up and way from your face. Alternatively, tilt a straightener away from your face once you reach your ends to create a flicked out look.
