After summer holidays and a few drinks too many over long weekends, your skin can start to look tired and in need of repair.
While we might reach for the concealer, or a highlighter for those brow bones, the latest skincare diet is telling you to leave it off, and stick to moisturiser.
Styling itself on the name of the infamous fasting diet, the ‘5:2’ skin diet asks followers to skip wearing make-up for two days of the week, and instead start moisturising your skin three times daily with a PH balanced cream.
The idea is quite simple – allowing your skin to breathe will help prevent clogging, while moisturising your skin will stimulate the blood cells and put moisture back into your skin.
Not sure if you want to ditch the foundation for two days running?
Expert dermatologist Karen Hammerman told Women’s Health that while going make-up free has its benefits, double cleansing at night can reap the same rewards – cleansing once to remove the make-up and again for a deeper cleanse to allow skin to really breathe without make-up residue.
She added:
“Whether you decide to partake in the 5:2 skin diet or not doesn’t matter, as long as you are properly cleaning and caring for your skin.
“Your skin will be just as healthy with proper cleansing, safe makeup, and sunscreen.”
