Caviar Nails are the latest sensation in manicure trends, and now you can try them at home.

The manicure, which looks for all the world like ice-cream sprinkles on your nails (yum!), is the brainchild of the clever folks at British brand Ciaté, (trivia time - that stands for Colour, Innovation, Aspiration, Trend and Extraordinary).

The Caviar Manicure came about when Charlotte Knight, founder and Creative Director of Ciaté, wanted to create 3-dimensional nails for a magazine shoot. She found her options were limited, and so created this super-cute nail look. 

There are three looks currently available to buy, the super-colourful ‘Rainbow’, the more sophisticated ‘Black Pearl’, and the bridal favourite ‘Mother of Pearl’.

Each DIY kit contains the base colour, a pot of your chosen beads, and a handy plastic tray and funnel to collect wayward beads for later use.

Her.ie visited Hyde Grooming in Dublin to put the Caviar Manicure to the test.

We say: I probably was not the best model for Caviar nails, as my nails are quite weak and will never grow long and strong for me, no matter what I try! That said, I absolutely loved the effect, even on my short nails, and all of the Her.ie girls were similarly impressed. Yes, the beads do start to fall off quite quickly, but after 24 hours that included cooking, cleaning, a long bath and a day’s typing, they still look great. This is not your average manicure though, so it’s best saved for a special occasion, weekend or night out where you’re out to impress! I loved the ‘Rainbow’ look I chose, and would certainly opt for it again. I’m not entirely sure I would find it so easy to recreate the look at home, but I would recommend trying it in a salon first then attempting the look at home with your own kit. Liza at Hyde Grooming charges €24 for the treatment, which takes about an hour.
