Tried and tested: I went for an infrared sauna at Glow Bar, and it was interesting

It was different.

From the moment I heard about Glow Bar London’s infrared saunas, I was intrigued.

The concept itself is fairly simple – you sit in a small cabin-like room, and sweat.

Sweating as a means of healing has been used for centuries in cultures from South America to India.

These saunas use the most modern technology, that will allow a person to have a similar experience with maximised benefits.

Sounds like a dream, right?

When a friend of mine got in touch and asked if I wanted to give the saunas a whirl, I said hell yes.

I was, however, apprehensive, because I have never really been a fan of traditional saunas. The heat makes me feel a bit claustrophobic.

Anyway, I was planning a trip to London, so I decided to incorporate it in, to see what the hype is all about.

When I arrived to Glow Bar, I was met with pastel pink everything – honestly, I want my house to look like this place.

After filling out a few forms, I was brought into the gorge changing room, where I was given a lovely robe.

I slipped into my swimsuit, lashed on the robe, and went to my sauna pod.

The session lasts 45 minutes, and the temperature builds in that time.

It started off grand, I was really enjoying the soothing effect of the heat.

However, it did get a bit much for me after about 30 minutes, so I was popping in and out of the sauna at my leisure.

After 45 minutes of genuinely pouring sweat, it was over – and off I went back to the changing room for a very luxurious shower.

I then popped up to the Glow Bar Cafe, to enjoy a delicious moon milk, which made me feel like a beacon of wellness.

So, what were the benefits, if any?

Well, I slept like a fu*king baby that night, which is something I tend not to do.

When you have the pink sofa to yourself ✨?

The sauna helps your mind and muscles to relax in a substantial way, which really helped me to fall asleep, and stay asleep.

My skin also had a glow (which perhaps explains the name of the place?).

Infrared therapy stimulates collagen production while also healing your skin from the surface to deeper levels leading to long term skin benefits.

Makes sense.

All in all, I can totally see why everyone in London is RAVING about Glow Bar, and the infrared saunas.

I would definitely go again. Anything for a decent night of sleep lads.
