Autumn is (slowly) creeping in, and we're ready with our roll necks and chunky knits. But what about our scents? Here are some AW choices for men and women to make the fragrance transition with.
FOR YOUGucci Flora Gorgeous Magnolia Eau de Parfum (from €79)Perfumers Daphné Bugey and Marie Salamagne’s creation is filled with unexpected yetcomplementary notes of magnolia essence, dewberry and patchouli essence. It’s all at once fruity, floral and sensual. There’s hints of coconut too, and a little autumn woodiness from the patchouli. The packaging, as you can see, is also on another level. This new Gucci scent is €79 for a 30ml bottle, going up to €157 for the 100ml refillable one, and it’s available at Boots, Brown Thomas and select pharmacies nationwide.Vera Wang Rock Princess (€65)Vera Wang’s newest fragrance, Vera Wang Rock Princess is a gorgeous AW transitional scent, with a dark edge but still retaining and fruity and sweet undercurrent. Vera Wang herself actually formulates her fragrances (instead of using a ‘nose’ like many other brands) so this EDT features the signature layering and attention to detail that can be seen across her fashion brand. It has notes of peach layered with jasmine and it’s super feminine (but with an attitude too).FOR HIMDavid Beckham True Instinct (€44)The relaunched Instinct family features Instinct, Bold Instinct, Follow Your Instinct, and this new version, True Instinct. The (very expensive looking) glass bottles has clean lines and heavy black caps adding a high-end element which is ideal to give as a gift if not buy for yourself. The notes are pine needle, cedarwood and vetiver, and it falls squarely into the woody fragrance family, making it a great AW scent for men. Hugo Boss Boss Bottled Elixir (from €103)If you see us licking the posters for this fragrance, do not be alarmed: Chris Hemsworth is the face of it and so… Can you blame us? It’s an autumnal dream: Ambery, woody notes with a warm incense and cardamom top, an vetiver and patchouli heart and a base of cedarwood essence. This scent is available in 50ml for €103 or 100ml for €139, and it’s launching in Brown Thomas, Boots and select stockists nationwide from today, 13 September.
