Do blondes really have more fun?

We don’t really know, but what we do know, is that there is a new blonde shade doing the rounds on social media, and holy moly, it is fabulous.

If the change of seasons is making you feel like a change of hair colour, check out toasted marshmallow – the hair colour everyone is talking about right now.

Toasted marshmallow (or ‘smoked marshmallow’ as it’s sometimes referred to on social media) is a lived-in blonde hair colour that makes for a seriously low effort colour transformation.

Sounds good? We now.

Especially when it looks this good.

Wonder what exactly to ask your stylist for?

Well, according to Cosmopolitan magazine, you’re looking for an intense balayage effect, one which sees your hair fade from brunette roots to icy blonde ends.

“Ask your stylist for a rooted, ashy blonde color,” advise the experts at L’Oreal. “They’ll be able to expertly place your highlights and lowlights.”

According to Allure, the colour was created by California-based colourist Megan Martinez.

“Sometimes you don’t have time to upkeep your roots, so when you have a beautiful blend you have a little bit more leeway,” Martinez tells Allure.

That “blend” she speaks of is colourist wording for a mix of highlights and lowlights that make regrowth less harsh. That way, you can refresh your colour every six to eight weeks instead of every month.
