There’s A New Way To Apply Eyeshadow And It’s Called Mooning

Yes, really.

Cathy Donohue

Fashion month can always be relied on for style inspiration but there’s a bunch of new beauty trends on the way too.

One of those is ‘eyeshadow mooning’, a make-up trick used backstage at a number of SS16 shows including Roksanda Ilincic and Diane Von Furstenberg.

It’s basically a moon shape, where make-up artists applied eyeshadow both under the lower lashes and above the crease of the eye, creating what can only be described as a statement eye.

Getting to grips with a blue “crescent eye”

There’s a couple of key point to remember when re-creating this and Look Magazine says that as with most eye make-up looks, blending is essential, particularly at the edges.

To make the look work for you, rather than as a catwalk trend, take it down a notch and apply the shadow in a crescent mood shape.

This stops you from going overboard and extending the shadow to the brow bone which might look a little excessive for day to day wear.

We’re definitely going to give it a go…
