There’s no way around it – beauty is pain people.
And, if you want to get your lady garden pruned and preened to perfection before the big V, this weekend is the time to do it.
Even if you don’t have a hot date planned, it’s always nice to get groomed. Just grit your teeth, keep your eyes on the prize and get on with it - unless you favour the au natural look of course...
From DIY methods to letting the professionals take control of the situation, there’s a method out there to suit every budget.
Epilator:
40 tiny tweezers plucking every hair in sight at speed might sound terrifying and more than a little painful but there’s something very satisfying about using an epilator! Apart from the fact it’s fast, it’s also the least messy method of hair removal and is kinder to the skin as you won’t be removing the top layer. Plus, you can do it from the comfort of your own bathroom. This easy to use three-in-one model from Braun is a little on the pricey side but it will last at least two years, which works out quite cheap in the end.

Waxing:
If you’re going to go down the waxing route, hot wax is the only way to go. Not only does strip wax rip your skin away with the hairs, it’s not very good at getting rid of stubborn or more coarse hair and it’s a lot more painful so anyone who suffers from ingrown hairs should avoid it at all costs. Seriously, any waxer who uses it is sadistic! But, thankfully, there are some kind and caring professionals out there who have moved with the times and have their clients best interests at heart and Dun Laoghaire based salon Waxperts is one of them. Not only have they developed their own brand of hot wax, owner Ellen and her team train other salons to use their wax so lady gardens all around the country can benefit from the Waxperts ethos. And they advocate a no double-dipping policy so it’s uber hygienic too.

Hair Removal Cream:
If you’re lucky enough to only have... how shall we say this politely... a bit of fluff down below that doesn’t need to be removed via the more heavy duty options then a trusty tube of hair removal cream might just be all you need. It’s a teeny bit messy and does involve a lot of standing around while you wait for it to work its magic but it’s virtually pain free, is nice and cheap and takes less than ten minutes before you hop in the shower. We recommend that you go for a product designed for sensitive skin just to be on the safe side.
