Perhaps you’ve been on them all day. Or maybe they’re sore after the walk home. Whatever you used your feet for today, chances are they need a bit of a pick-me-up.
Here’s a ten step guide on how you can treat your tootsies tonight:
Step one: Get dressed into something comfortable like a pair of tracksuit bottoms or pyjamas. Whatever it is, make sure you can relax and can also roll your trousers up to your knee.
Step two: Fill a bucket or the bath with warm soapy water. Feel free to use bubble bath if you like. Just make sure it smells nice.
Step three: Dip your feet into the water and sit for ten to fifteen minutes. This will help to cleanse and soften any hard skin on your feet.
Step four: Wash your feet briefly using a sponge or your hand. If you want, give your toenails a quick clean with a nail brush as well.
Step five: Get out of the bath or the bucket and dry your feet thoroughly. This includes between your toes. Moisture can lead to infections and mild skin conditions.
Step six: Use a pumice stone and a foot file to remove hard skin from the bottom of your feet. Be warned, this can be a little tickly.
Step seven: Take care of your toenails. This includes trimming and filing them to an appropriate length. The warm water will have softened them which helps the process.
Step eight: While this one is optional we insist you paint your toe nails. Separate your toes using toilet roll and remember to use a base and a top layer to protect your nails and your polish.
Step nine: Using a moisturiser, preferably one specifically for feet, massage your feet for a couple of minutes, paying attention to the balls and heels of your feet.
Step ten: Now all that’s left to do, and it is necessary to do it, sit back and relax with your feet up and a book or television show of your choice.
