Although straight hair was huge circa the mid 1990s largely due to Jennifer Aniston’s ‘The Rachel’, it took a bit of a backseat there for a while.

For Sibling’s SS16 show, smooth glossy locks were big, the type of straight hair that looks immaculate, not exactly the look you get when attempting to drag your straighteners through a mane of a hair that’s been roughly air dried.
To be fair, perfectly straight hair does take a certain amount of effort but it’s worth it for the finished look.
Straight hair with sleek bangs was massive at Mary Katrantzou’s AW2016 show and although this isn’t the type of look one might opt for on a daily basis, it’s high fashion perfection.
The Met Gala is one of the biggest events of the year for both the fashion industry and the movers and shakers in celeb land too.
This year, the theme was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology and straight hair fitted in perfectly with the metallic, futuristic theme.
Jourdan Dunn’s poker-straight grey-hued lob was the ideal example for showcasing the fashion-forward vibe of the event.
Katie Holmes also went straight on the night and her long straight locks are 90s-esque, not a kink to be seen, but with her fabulous Zac Posen dress and smoky makeup, her style is right on trend.
There you have it, proof that straight hair is back with a bang.
