We’re very sorry, but concealer lips are back

Katy Brennan

Only this time it actually kinda works.

Look, the resurgence of all things ’00s and ’90s has been a bit rough for those of us who were there the first time around.

There’s been a few trends we’ve welcomed back with open arms – like the glorious side fringe or classic frosted eyeshadow.

Others need to stay dead and buried in the past where they belong and the lasest revived trend is one of them.

Concealer lips have been trending on TikTok and the thought of it is genuinely making us shudder.

The flashbacks to the days of caking Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse all over our faces (in the total wrong shade, might I add) are almost too much to bare.

It truly looks terrible in retrospect, but colourful lips just weren’t it back then, for some reason. It was all about the nudes.

Thankfully though, Gen Z’s version of concealer lips is not quite as bad as we remember. Makeup has come a long way, and honestly, the final result this time around is actually kind of flattering.

TikTokers have been showing how to combine shades of concealer to create an ombre, nude lip, as well as mixing concealer with their lipstick for a softer effect.

There you have it. We’re back using concealer on our lips again. But it’s not as nightmare inducing as we remember it.

However, if you want to stick with saving your concealer for dark under eye circles and blemishes, we won’t blame you.
