New Year’s Eve Make Up: How-To Perfect The Smokey Eye Look

The perfect party look has never been so easy!

Her

Ladies the holiday season is almost over and so too is 2014, with only one night left to party it’s time to put those new eye shadows to good use and rock the classic smokey eye party look. For the majority of us, applying eye shadow and liner proves to be the biggest make up challenge, however you’ll be pleased to know perfecting the smokey look is simple.

There are many alternatives to the classic black smokey eye and for those a little more daring you can change up the colours or add a little sparkle.

Opting for a brown or bronze smokey look is always safe as it is suitable for any eye colour, and here is how you can do it yourself…

Always select 3 different shades of the colour you wish to use – A base, a shadow and a highlighter.

Using a lighter colour base will soften the look, leaving it less severe.

Smokey Brown Eye

Highlight – Cream.

Base – Orange gold.

Shadow – Dark brown.

Eyeline – Dark brown.

1. First apply a base colour.

2. Apply dark brown eyeliner pencil to the upper and lower inner eye area, gently smudge the pencil gently into the lashes.

3. Use a small brush to blend the pencil into a smokey circle around the eye.

4. Apply a small amount of dark brown shadow on the eyepencil area and blend. Using a little shadow prevents dust from falling on to your foundation.

5. Take the brush and apply the dark shade into the socket, brushing softly from the outside of the eye right through to the crese of the eyelid.

6. Taking the orange gold colour blend the outer part of the socket right in to the corner of the eye. This will leave your eyes more subtle.

7. Apply the cream shade to highlight browbone and inner corner of your eye, doing this makes your eye stand out more.

8. Finishing with liquid eyeliner is not necessary but if you are confident enough to apply it to you top lid then do so.

9. Apply black mascara to complete the look.

You can always keep it traditional black smokey eye and add a little sparkle…
