It Turns Out You’ve Been Applying Your Dry Shampoo All Wrong…

Step this way to perfect tresses.

Dry shampoo is our go-to for last minute bad hair days.

You know those days where you wake up late for work, realise you could fry chips in your mane but have a meeting at 9am?

But, if you’re anything like 99.9% of people applying this failsafe hair cure, chances are all you spray is the parting on your hairline before sweeping a brush through your locks.

Speaking to Marie Claire, hair care expert Lizzie Arneson suggests following a simple breakdown of the most effective way to dry-shampoo your hair:

Start with a light spray around the hairline. This should be quick and only a small amount of product used as dry shampoo can leave a residue that will make the hair look greasier as the day wares on.

Keep the dry shampoo inches from your hairline. It helps keep the product from settling in a cloud on your skin and roots.

Part your hair into sections. Use your index finger to mark the top of your ear and follow it to your natural divide. Now separate hair before and after your ear and spritz the under-root of each section to give more volume.

Now take 1-2 inch sections and spray your roots – but again for a second and work your way back to the nape of your neck.

For added volume and to prevent the product building up, flip your hair upside down, then use your fingers to shake out your roots. This also allows the dry shampoo to move towards your ends.

To smooth out your hair, use your hands to gently pat down the mid-section, and brush through the ends only.

Now you can have luscious locks even if you skip that morning shower.
