There is nothing worse than waking up after a glamorous night on the town with two bruised knees or even worse a disgusting love bite. If you have forgotten anything from last night these injuries are sure to remind you of your exploits! Cringe. You can’t possibly go into work like this on Monday and frankly we don’t think we could face the slagging. Bruises are blood vessels that have burst beneath the skin due to impact and getting ice and compression bandages onto the areas quickly will minimize any swelling and improve the appearance of the bruise. For years we’ve been desperately seeking remedies for our embarrassing mishaps and we’ve come up with a few suggestions to help you do your best CSI work and get rid of the evidence!
Witch Hazel
Witch hazel is an effective way to improve the appearance of horrid love bites. It is often used in spot-busting products and helps get rid of redness and inflammation. Dab some onto a cotton pad and lightly apply to the area in gentle circular motions several times a day to improve the circulation to the area.
Coconut Oil
Lather on some coconut oil onto the offending bruise a few times daily. It works at repairing damaged tissues and is also great for cuts, scrapes and spots. It’s available in health food shops around the country. Biona Organic make a great tub of coconut oil (€7.35/200mls) that will help ease those nasty bruises.
Arnica Gel
If you bruise like a peach it is well worth having A Vogel’s Arnica Atrogel in your medicine cabinet. The gel is available for €15.20/100mls and as the name suggests it uses extracts of Arnica flowers and Echinacea to help you bust your bruises.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar acts as an anti-inflammatory and is great at reducing the swelling of a bruise or a love bite. Dab onto a cotton bud and apply in gentle circles to the area. Alternatively make a paste by adding a few drops of Apple Cider Vinegar to some Vaseline.
Vitamin K
Boost your intake of leafy greens like spinach, rocket and lettuce. Seaweed is also an excellent source of Vitamin K and any product with this ingredient is sure to help you heal.
Turtle Neck
