Four fun festival hairstyles to try this summer

SO pretty.

It’s that time of year again.

Sea Sessions, Indiependence, Longitude, Body and Soul, Electric Picnic, Glastonbury, Benicassim and the list goes on.

Festival season has arrived and I for one am very excited.

Apart from seeing some unbelievable acts perform live, experimenting with beauty, hair and fashion is always fun.

With that in mind, here are four hairstyles I can’t wait to perfect (or at least, persuade my hairdresser sister to use me as a guinea pig)

Halo Braid

Okay, so this is FAB and definitely my favourite.

To perfect this style you need to make sure your hair is in the right condition. Working with day old hair is good and adding a little volumising dry shampoo will ensure you have a good texture to work with.

Then divide your hair into sections, braid each one and wrap around your head. It might take a couple of goes to get right but the end result is worth the effort.

Flower Accessories

Okay, so flower crowns are standard festival headgear, and I can’t help but love them.

They’ve been criticised in recent times but the pretty floral Snapchat filter has reignited our love for a floral garland.

The queen of pinks and purples

You don’t need to opt for a full-on crown either, there are so many pretty accessories to choose from including dainty hair clips and pins.

Less is more with this look and again, dry shampoo is ideal for adding texture and body to your style whether you choose texturised waves or a laid-back ponytail.

Add some to your festival kit as it will come in very handy for keeping your style fresh over the weekend.

Messy side plait

Probably the simplest one to perfect.

The most important thing is the condition of your hair and again washing it before styling isn’t the best idea.

Wash it the day before and again, dry shampoo will be key to getting that messy lived-in look, ideal for festival chic.

The next step is to flip it upside down, grab some mousse, scrunch, and plait. Very handy when you’re on day three and a mirror is a distant memory.

Cornrows made a major comeback this year.

They keep your hair out of your face and this style lasts all day and night without budging.

Hairspray is key for keeping this look in check and I have a feeling it’s going to be a popular option for festival season 2016.
