Add us as a preferred source on Google »We're all guilty of jumping on a new skincare trend because someone on our TikTok FYP recommended it.
We'll try different serums, and new creams and pick up new skincare habits once it starts trending online.
But we rarely stop to ask if it is actually worth our time.
We fall for the trend and fail to look back but do we really need to follow every skincare trend? Sometimes less is more and we may be causing our skin more harm than good in the long run.
One skincare habit many of us took up without questioning was double cleansing.
It has become an essential part of our skincare routines but does everyone really need to double cleanse?
According to the experts at Trinny London, double cleansing is key for those who wear makeup throughout the day.
"The first cleanse will remove any surface-level makeup, SPF, or grime from the skin, clearing the way for the second cleanse to dive in and give your pores a thorough clean.
"As the saying goes, a problem shared is a problem halved, and double cleansing means you’re not relying on just one cleanse to do all the heavy lifting."
Your skin will feel incredibly fresh and clean following a double cleanse.
However, the skincare step doesn't suit certain skin types and may irritate certain skin conditions like rosacea.
According to experts at La Roche Posay, double cleansing does not suit people with dry skin.
The team explained that double cleansing when you have dry skin can cause tightness, pulling, and flaking.
Cleansing too much may also strip your skin of its natural oils which can lead to issues like breakouts or eczema and rosacea flare-ups.
It is important to remember that not every skincare trend will suit your skin type so think of that before trying the next big thing in skincare out.
