Chanel Resurrects Famous Actress For New Perfume Campaign

51 years after her death, Chanel has chosen Marilyn Monroe as the face of their fragrance, Chanel No 5.

In 1960, Marilyn was interviewed by George Belmont, who was editor of Marie Claire at the time, and confessed she wore only Chanel No. 5 to bed.

‘You know, they ask me questions. Just an example: “What do you wear to bed? A pyjama top? The bottoms of the pyjamas? A nightgown?” So I said, “CHANEL No.5,” because it’s the truth… And yet, I don’t want to say “nude”. But it’s the truth !’ she said of the fragrance in the recording.

Marilyn is to be the new face of Chanel no 5

There has been no comment on whether Chanel are paying Monroe’s’ trust for the use of her likeness.

Brad Pitt will be replaced by the actress as the face of the fragrance.

Marilyn’s star just keeps rising and her populairty shows no sign of waning just yet.

Only last October, MAC cosmetics released a range of Monroe-inspired makeup. In February, Macy’s rolled out a range of junior’s clothing inspired by the Hollywood icon.

Chanel will launch a print campaign and TV ad featuring the actress later this year.
