Body Beautiful – Three New Beauty Buys to Try This Week

Three new beauty buys to try this week.

Rebecca McKnight

It’s a serious perk of the job here at Her.ie towers that we get to try and test some of the latest and greatest beauty releases and call it work. Lucky us. Here is a heads up on three products that got a communal thumbs up from the team in the week that was…

The Curve Eyeliner, €15.99, NYX

NYX is a brand relatively new to Irish shores, and so far, so good in our estimation. The latest release is this frankly intimidating-looking eyeliner. The brand maintains that the innovative, ergonomic shape makes applying liquid liner “mistake-proof”,  as the grip zone provides just the right hold to make application precise and secure. We were not convinced, but one practice run later, we’re converts. This tool makes it very easy to create a dramatic look for nighttime, and the liner itself is a lovely inky black with super staying power. If is still looks a little tough to manage to you, then check out the handy YouTube tutorial.

Vit-illume Treatment, €150, River Medical

Less a beauty buy, but a treatment to try. This week we tested out Vit-illume at River Medical on Dublin’s Baggot Street. Vit-illume uses a pioneering skin re-surfacing technology, deeply cleansing and exfoliating your skin. The skin is left super-hydrated and revitalised, following the application of a tailored combination of meso vitamins and potent peptides. The treatment also utilises the power of LED light therapy, which works to renew, plump and tighten the skin cells.

Colour Elixir Glosses, RRP €9.99, Max Factor

Mister Max Factor invented lip gloss. So, he really should know what he’s talking about. The latest addition to the line dubbed the makeup of makeup artists is this fabulous Colour Elixir Gloss. With smoothing mineral oil, nourishing candelilla wax and shine enhancers, we’ve been pouting pretty since these landed on the beauty desk.

The glosses come in six trend-led shades. The colours are quite soft, as they tend to be for summer, but they’re easily built for a more dramatic effect. Alternatively, they’re perfect over lippie.

Max Factor Make-up Artist, Lyndsey Cavanagh comments, “Whilst balms and tinted balm provide nourishment, they often appear dull on application and very much lack in high colour pigment. Max Factor Colour Elixir Glosses have the comfort of a balm yet a denser pigment content giving a much better colour pay off, especially with the darker shades. What’s more, the shine is more gloss like so creates a fuller mouth shape.”
