Top of The Flops? Ronan Keating is Struggling to Set The Charts on "Fire" With His Latest Album

The Boyzone singer's newest album isn't having an impressive impact on music charts around the world.

It’s been a tough year for Ronan Keating and just when things seem like they’re starting to look up, another setback has raised its head. Ronan may have found love in Australia with his new girlfriend Storm, but when it comes to his career, things aren’t exactly going to plan.

Apparently Ronan’s latest album has flopped majorly in Australia, which does not bode well for the Irish singer who has just returned Down Under to pick back up his role as a judge on the Australian version of The X-Factor.

Fires, Ronan’s latest offering only managed to debut at number 12 in the Aussie charts, and last weekend, it dropped 16 places to number 28. Not good, huh?

Ronan is set to perform his latest single live on this week’s X-Factor show, and we imagine he’ll be hoping that taking to the stage will help him to boost his flagging sales in Australia.

Ronan's newest album isn't exactly setting the charts on fire...

Meanwhile, Fires debuted at number 12 in Ireland and a much more promising number 5 in the UK. In Europe, the latest offering from Ronan debuted at number 75 in the Netherlands, number 26 in Switzerland and number 51 in Australia.

Ronan is due to begin a massive UK tour next January, although if his sales don’t pick up soon, he might have a change of heart.

Have you listened to Ronan’s new album? Are you planning on buying it? We have to say, here in Her.ie headquarters we think his latest single is pretty catchy. What do you think?

Have your say

Amy... Do you feel better now that you've talked him down once again? How many other artists are selling much less than him - and do you ramble on about them at all? If you've got nothing nice to say - just don't bother. What's he done to you?

I quote "In Europe, the latest offering from Ronan debuted at [...] and number 51 in Australia." - Australia is not in Europe. I assume you mean Austria. Proof read before you publish.

But yes, I agree his new single is definitely catchy (in fact, the whole album is catchy and completely awesome - I suggest you check out the preview on iTunes) and it's nice to hear you say something positive about him for a change. I'd like to see you do that again next time.

I really like the album, it is one of the best, if not even the best, Ronan ever made.

I do not think that nr. 5 in UK charts, 12 in Australia and nr 20 Germany and 8 in Norway to quote a few are examples of "flopped album", he is doing great, there have only been positive reviews of this album and fans love it, that is all what matters.

This album is really well done. A very good achievement. Ronan is a singer with a fantastic voice. When he sings, he does not live and play back like some artists. Him is true. Fires is very catchy but when you take the time to listen to the album several times the album teaser. So yes I bought it so I listened to it several times and yes I love it

great Album and why don't you have a go at others that sell far less, think oyu need ot get facts right here, seems you have followed a story from some Irish Tabloid,Ronan has said no-one buys CDs.these days,in Ireland when his was released the No.1 only sold just over 700,what does that tell you, downloads etc.have ruined the industry, tours are where it matters and yes Top 5 in the UK which is his main market, and do get your geography correct,if you are gong to print rubbish,he has been around for 20 years, how many at his still young age can say that, and those of his age where are they now,he is still out there and doing far more than most, the Album is excellent by the way.

This is Ronan back doing what he does best. For any album to have m like every song on is rare, but Ronan has done it with Fires, every ong is awesome in it's own way. It's a very upbeat album with sensational vocals throughout, a genuinely fantastic album.
There is just no need for the pointlless comments made above, really, why do it? Ronan has a huge fanbase and number 5 in the UK charts is pretty damn good to me, just a shame downloads came a long and destroyed proper charts like back in the 90's.
So like RKN said, if you can't say anything nice just don't bother saying a thing.
We are so proud of Ronan, he has done an awesome job with Fires, it comes highly recommneded to all pop lovers.

The negative press articles are extremely boring. Fires is the best album Ronan has made, and he has made some awesome albums.
His voice is incredible, gets better with each passing year. Did any of you go to The Dalriada Festival in July? Then if you did,, you KNOW how good he is live, as well as being an outstanding recording artist. There are many thousands of fans out there, worldwide who cannot wait for him to step on that stage and perform his album Fires. Roll on the January/Feburary tour, I for one, cannot wait.

Amy i suggest if you havnt got anything nice to say dont say it.
Ronan is an estabilshed artist who will have peaks and troughs in his career, however this current offering has peaked at no5 in the UK market.
No 12 in Ireland in my opionn, is a good rating, and as regard it not charting well in Austrralia, he is new to the OZ market and people are still getting to know him as a artist and may i remind you his last Australia offering Duet peaked at no1.
Its easy to jump on the band waggon and critisise an artist, to try and make yourself look cool. with the tabloids, dont bother
Fires is a scorching album, and Ronan has realy pushed himself musicaly, and not just stayed with a tryed and trusted formula, which so many less gifted artists do.
Ronan can be proud of Fires and we his fans are as well, and are a hundred percent behind him, and so looking forward to the Fires tour next year
As RKN says get your facts straight, if you dont even weather a country is in Europe or not, what chance have you of coming up with a balanced and fair article on an artist who is much loved and supprted around the globe, Ronan and his fans dont need to answer to you, thankyou

50 Shades of positive comments for Ronan Keating.
For someone to write songs, sing songs, produce albums, be an actor, be a mentor and be a father I think Ronan Keating is doing pretty god dam good dont you. And who is anybody to judge. It takes a man to admit his mistakes and move forward in life without dwelling on the past. My goal in life is to meet Ronan Keating. Him as a person is what inspires me and what talent he has. Fires will be successful and so will anything than ronan puts his heart and soul into.

Oh here we go. Another day, another negative article about Ronan. What point are you trying to prove here exactly? I really don't think the European chart positions show a "flopped" album especially as there was hardly any promotion for it (which I don't blame him for as he would have been bombarded with questions about his personal life and not the album) and the fact he doesn't have the hype surrounding him. I have bought Fires and I think it is his strongest material to date. It's full of catchy pure pop and heart wrenching ballads. As for the tour, I think it is pretty much sold out so people definitely still want to see him. How about a nice article next time please?

Oh it does make me sick that somehow somewhere always are people to pull Ronan down. This album is fantastic and extremly catchy classic pop. I love every song on it. His voice improves the more older he gets. Its kind of a new beginning for him and he deserves a little recognition for the really good work he does. And do us fans a favor: "Please don't udge him so quickly" I hate all these questions they ask him about Yvonne and if he is single anymore....It doesn't matter. You should aprreciate his professional work.

i think you are all being a bit harsh, im all for freedom of speach and all entitled to your opinion , but come on give Ronan a break. In my honest opinion " fires " is a really good studio album..no covers and some very original songs many to get ya foot a tapping. in light of all he has gone thru I think the album and the tour for which i must say is nearly sold out in many venues is just what the doc ordered..get him back on the road , doing exactly what he does best...Please his fans .....that is all

I'm a HUGE fan of Ronan Keating and his music and all of his albums are amazing but 'Fires' tops them all, it's the best he's ever made so far without any doubt!!! His voice is even better and stronger now than it already has been before and he's one of the BEST live performers on the planet!!

I have loved Ronan Keating for a very long time and he is nothing but spectacular. Fires is a great album with offering a little different touch to each one. Why "Amy" feels the need to talk him down is beyond me. Keep the negativity to yourself.

Eat your words, Amy. Three TV performances in Australia this week, and 'Fires' is at no. 4 in their iTunes Pop Albums chart with the Deluxe version, and at no. 6 with the standard version. That's what happens when he does a bit of TV promo. Flop, I don't think so!!!
