Fun Run in Sunny Dublin - Georgina Ahern is Stretching Herself, and Supporting a Good Cause
"In my mind I was remembering the great cause it was for... That alone pushes you to remember how lucky you are to be healthy enough to taking part." Georgina Ahern on her recent Fun Run.
This week I joined in with friends and did a 10K run, all for a good cause mind!
The Great Pink Run was held in Dublin’s Point Village, and was all in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness.
It's been a few months since I did a big run like this, but once I complete one again I'm all gung-ho to keep it up, get faster and improve my time!
Of course, what usually happens is I end up leaving a wee gap between big runs, and when I finally sign up for another, the challenge is just as great and the pressure begins again.
Anyway, as always I am buzzing once more having completed it - regardless of time, and again I’m promising myself to take part in more and beat my personal best.
If it wasn't for my friends, though, I may have done ducked a little and snuck off when we reached 5k! How and ever they kept me going, and in the end we had a lot of fun.
In my mind I was remembering the great cause it was for, and the challenges many women undergo when facing breast cancer. That alone pushes you to remember how lucky you are to be healthy and well enough to taking part.
It was a lot of fun and there was a great atmosphere in Dublin town, which looks pretty fab on a sunny Sunday afternoon!
Our next group challenge on the agenda is the brave force assault course. It's a 7.5 km assault course, so you get your run in whilst getting stuck into the various obstacles along the route. It looks like complete hell to be honest… but also a fun challenge with plenty of mucky obstacles and water trekking too! There are 25 obstacles in total and no doubt I’ll probably be crying through the pain of it!
I've checked it out online and seen the clips, it’s supposed to be great for work; team-building events and such like, so if you fancy a fun fit day instead of a pub crawl it could be something healthy to try and conquer while having a laugh in the process?
That… or it's crazy. Maybe a nice trip to a day spa would be in order afterwards!
