In The Spotlight: We Rate and Slate The Style Of The X Factor Insiders
Who’s being applauded for their sartorial style and who’s getting jeered at for their fashion failings?
Her rates: Not setting the fashion world alight this dress is a failsafe fashion choice for Nicole. The structured shape with ruching at the bust is flattering and she’s cleverly kept her jewellery simple. The nude, peep-toe sandals are grand but we think a colourful, statement shoe could have made the look stellar.
Her slates: Caroline looks like a cross between a nun, a waitress and a small child! There comes a point in every grown-up woman’s life when she needs to accept that skimpy shorts aren’t a smart or sophisticated choice.
Her slates: A baby pink, gingham shirt and creased, mis-matched suit is just a bit lazy isn’t it? But what were we expecting this is Louis after all! He looks like a middle-aged dad that wandered in off the golf course. Which would make sense given his choice of comfy footwear.
Her slates: Honestly Mel B, was there no full-length mirror in the hotel room? Shiny satin, skintight trousers with a see-through vest top. Yuck! And just because you can afford Hermes accessories doesn’t mean they look good. Don’t get us wrong, we’re normally a fan of gaudy gold jewellery but here the effect is tackorama. Her Mufasa-style hair and pink lippy do her no favours either.
Her slates: Ah, poor Dermie has been overlooked now that Gary has become our number one X Factor crush. This outfit is alright but nothing special. The red check lining got us going a little but not enough to bump him into our fashion favour.
Her rates: Ah Gary, Gary, Gary oh how we love your preppy ways. Brown chinos with roll ups, baby blue blazer and soft grey brogues – whoever’s dressing Gary deserves a raise. We bet it’s a girl because this is just how we’d like our man to dress. Swoon!
Her rates: Another hit from Mr. Barlow. A darker palette this time, he looks dapper in his burgundy knit and skinny jeans. Dare we say we’re deducting a few style points because his no lace brogues freak us out! But we do love that navy blazer and think we’d rob it for ourselves if we ever found ourselves in Gary’s bedroom!
Her slates: Tulisa looks a bit like Miami Barbie in this get up. The print is pretty, the colour flattering and the style – plunge neckline and short skirt length – suits her petite stature. But her choice of shoes lets the look down. Those boots aren’t her friend as they shorten her legs and the allover studs don’t complement the floaty fabric or colour of the dress.
Her rates: Singer Rita Ora only just about finds her way into our favour. The saving grace is those gorge glasses and pout. The clumpy, check shoes however are an ugly choice. We like the cut of her jacket and overall her all-white ensemble is pretty inoffensive.
Her slates: We miss Tulisa’s sultry, dark haired look. This is one time when going back to black would be a good idea. She has a crackin’ figure but a Herve Leger dress is a big no-no in our book. The sickly colour palette makes us feel queasy and those metallic court shoes look cheap. Oh, Tulisa give us a call we’ll sort you out!
The X Factor is back on our TV screen but does watching feel like a chore to anyone else? Our to-do list currently runs something like this… hoover the stairs, wash the dishes, do the ironing, watch The X Factor.
We’re definitely feeling nostalgic for the Danni and Cheryl days when their fashion choices came with a capital F! Now the style is so unimpressive we’re forced to weigh in with an “I’m sorry it’s a no from me.”
