Thomas Markle has waded in on the decision made by his daughter, Meghan Markle, and her husband, Prince Harry, to step down as senior royals.

This isn’t the first time Thomas has made his opinions public and his latest interview is with Channel 5 News.

His comments come less than 24 hours after statements from both the Queen and Buckingham Palace were released regarding the couple’s future.

He said that the couple are “cheapening the royals” and that. Meghan is throwing away “every girl’s dream” with a preview clip from the upcoming interview released today.

In conversation with AlaskaTV/Channel 5, he said:

“It’s disappointing because she actually got every girl’s dream.

“Every young girl wants to become a princess and she got that and now she’s tossing that away, for, it looks like she’s tossing that away for money.”

Although he doesn’t expect any contact from Meghan and Harry on account of his views, he described them as “lost souls” and says he doesn’t think they know what they are “looking for”.

Thomas, who is estranged from his daughter, is believed to have filmed the 90 minute documentary at his home in Mexico.

Thomas Markle: My Story is expected to be broadcast in the coming weeks although a date has not been finalised at the time of writing.

Yesterday it was announced that Meghan and Harry will no longer use their HRH titles and additionally, they are required to step back from royal duties which ensures they will have no access to public funds.

The Queen has spoken of her wish for them to “build a happy and peaceful new life” now that the arrangement has been agreed.

It is expected that the changes, described as a “new model” will take effect this spring.
