Iain Stirling has said he is “delighted” that Laura Whitmore is joining the Love Island team.

On Friday, it was officially announced that Laura Whitmore would be presenting the first ever series of winter Love Island.

And the comedian, who does the voice over for the reality TV series, took to Instagram Stories to share how “delighted” he was for Whitmore, who he has been dating for two years.

“Delighted to have @thewhitmore join the #loveisland team,” he said.

“Whilst I’m sad @carolineflack won’t be joining our team in South Africa for the first ever winter Love Island, I understand her decision to step down from the series,” he later added, addressing Caroline Flack’s decision to take a step back from Love Island.

“And she should be SO proud of her achievements over our many series!”

Laura Whitmore was officially confirmed as the host of winter Love Island on Friday morning.

The Irish born presenter will be taking over from Caroline Flack from the upcoming series of the show, which is due to kick off on January 12.

Flack stepped down from presenting duties early this week following her recent assault charge. The 40-year-old took to her Instagram Stories after the news of Whitmore’s appointment to give the Irish born presenter her blessing.

“I’m glad it’s Laura,” she wrote. “She loves the show as much as I do.”

“Again, thank you for you [sic] continuous messages of support. It’s a really rough time, but I’m doing all I can to keep my head above water and sort this all out.”
