It’s been more than two years since she filed for divorce, but Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are reportedly officially single again.
According to documents seen by The Blast, a judge ruled that the two of them can go back to legally being single before they finalise the settlement in their divorce.
The move is know as bifurcation, with both Pitt and Jolie said to be requesting it.
Sources told the publication that they saw it as an important step as it let them “get on with their lives” and break away from each other, emotionally.
The news comes a few weeks after Angelina Jolie made a rare appearance with all six of her children.
The actress was joined by her children at a special screening of Netflix’s upcoming film, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, over the Oscars weekend.
Jolie moderated the special screening event, which included a Q&A with the movie’s director Chiwetel Ejiofor and The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind author William Kamkwamba.
Page Six reports the family spent Oscars weekend making the most of their time in the Big Apple.
On Thursday, they went to the MoMA for the opening night screening of Prune Nourry’s documentary, Serendipity. Angelina was an executive producer.
The following day, the mum-of-six was spotted with 17-year-old Maddox as they seemingly took a tour of New York University. Later in the day, she had a shopping trip with Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox.
The publication report that the family took in a show on Saturday night – as you do, in NYC. They are said to have gone to the Richard Rodgers Theatre, where they saw Hamilton.
The Maleficient actress and her ex, Brad Pitt, were spotted together for the first time in two years earlier this year.
The pair were seen together in late January inside an office in LA seemingly working out the details that will allow them to eventually finalise their divorce.
Brad and Angie announced their separation in 2016, however a lengthy legal battle concerning the custody of their children has meant that negotiations have gone on a lot longer than first anticipated.
The couple have six children together – 17-year-old Maddox, 15-year-old Pax, 14-year-old Zahara, 12-year-old Shiloh, and 10-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
They are said to have fallen in love on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith in 2005, while Pitt was in the middle of divorce proceedings with ex Jennifer Aniston.
Angelina publicly acknowledged her relationship with Brad in 2006 when she announced that she was expecting his child.
They married in 2014 in a private ceremony in the south of France. Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016, citing irreconcilable differences.
